As you can see by the number of new homes throughout the valley, our part of Boise is growing, and we’re not done yet! Your home is part of a master-planned community that was designed through a collaborative process with Boise City, developers, and representatives from seven neighborhoods, The Idaho Conservation League, Idaho Department of Fish & Game, Boise Parks & Recreation, Ada County Parks, Idaho Power, local residents, and members of the public. The purpose was to create a cohesive, walkable, interconnected community with a mix of housing types, open space amenities, and commercial uses. Through many public workshops, the community created two Specific Plans in the Barber Valley Planning Area: SP-01, Harris Ranch; and SP-02, Barber Valley. These plans are part of City Ordinance and seek to balance property rights while providing community amenities, mitigating wildfire risk, and preserving wildlife habitat. However, these two specific plans do not guide development for all parcels in the valley. There are a number of parcels not included in the specific plans and public engagement is critical when these parcels are considered for development.
Boise City Calendar - Meetings/Hearings/Agendas/Agenda Packets
Applications can be reviewed online here. You'll need a permit number which is included as a link for the application. Once on the city's portal, project plans, drawings, staff reports, and other project related documentation can be found by clicking on the “Documents” drop-down menu. Sort by date if you want to show the most current entries at the top (you often need to click this twice).
We do not routinely post administrative approval items as these are considered minor in nature by the city. If the application is critical or controversial, we will try to include it here. You can also find discussion about these items in our meeting minutes located here - we regularly address development updates at our monthly meetings.
If you would like to review written testimony and correspondence that BVNA has provided, you can view our position letters here.
BVNA often provides written positions to agencies or other parties on behalf of the neighborhood, for issues related to development, traffic, project applications, and other matters. Correspondence on critical matters is listed below so our neighbors are aware of the positions we take. Additionally, we often present verbal testimony at hearings that align with written testimony but those are not included below
We regularly post hearing notices here in advance of the hearings or advise you of matters in our meeting minutes, and we welcome your input so we can consider your position, as we represent all neighbors in Barber Valley. Many of these are time sensitive so if we hear from you we will consider your comments if time permits - many of these matters evolve quickly right up to the hearing or meeting.
Note: This information was added in September 2023 and we have attempted to include all items since we launched the website in May 2019.
